The Carver is ultimately revealed to be Dr. He also considers his resulting disfigurements "art" – a new kind of beauty to grace the world. He has referred to beauty as a type of prison or cage that people are trapped in and believes it necessary to free such a craftsman's pride in his or her work. Therefore, he preys on people, usually women, who have had plastic surgery his victim pool is the clientele of plastic surgeons Sean McNamara and Christian Troy. The Carver apparently believes that physical beauty is evil and feels compelled to destroy it. He has also killed one victim: Rhea Reynolds, a woman who faked being attacked by the Carver so she could get free plastic surgery. He is a masked serial rapist who disfigures his victims.
The Carver is the main antagonists of seasons 2 and 3 of the TV series Nip/Tuck. It stops us from discovering who the real monsters are.
